East Quance Chiropractic Clinic

What to expect

Your First Visit

1. Information
During your initial visit, you will need to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time with your Saskatchewan health card in order to fill out paperwork which includes personal contact information, a brief health history and details about the health complaint that brings you to our office.
If your reason for the visit is the result of a motor vehicle accident (SGI claim) or because of and injury sustained while at work (WCB claim), please inform our reception staff because additional information and paperwork is required.

2. Case History
Once in the exam room, your Chiropractor will introduce themselves, review your paperwork and ask further questions about your condition and history.

3. Examination
The initial examination will be conducted and it can include physical tests such as leaing your body from side to side, checking your reflexes and/or moving your arms and legs. Depending on what is found during the exam, an x-ray or other form of diagnostic imaging may be recommended.

4. Diagnosis
Once in the exam room, your Chiropractor will introduce themselves, review your paperwork and ask further questions about your condition and history. Following the examination, your Chiropractor will provide you with a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Your Chiropractor's goal is to treat the cause of the problem, rather than just treat the symptoms. If a diagnosis is given for a condition that your Chiropractor feels would be best treated or co-treated by another health care professional, they will make the appropriate referral.

5. Informed Consent
Once you have a clear understanding of the diagnosis, treatment options and the anticipated outcomes of the treatment, you and your Chiropractor will sign the informed consent form.

6. Treatment
Your Chiropractor will then discuss a treatment plan that will include the types of treatment and the duration. Once you understand the treatment plan and you are comfortable moving forward, you will receive the chiropractic adjustment. Treatment techniques can include: hands-on adjustments with diversified technique, muscle release techniques, drop piece adjustment, hand held instruments with Activator Methods, Ultrasound and Interferential Current, and Flexion/Distraction Therapy.

7. Prevention
After the adjustment has been performed, your Chiropractor may recommend some exercises and lifestyle advice to accompany your treatment plan, as well as identifying the likely cause of your condition. Your doctor wants you to get well and make sure you stay well.
Follow Up Visits
Chiropractic is a process, not an event. Treatment for each person is determined based on your individual pain and mobility challenges. Some patients feel better after one treatment, but most require a structured treatment plan that gets to the root of the problem to resolve your issues.

During follow up visits your chiropractor may utilize one or more of the many different kinds of adjustments and manual care techniques used in chiropractic care. Your treatment will often include exercise, diet and other healthy living suggestions.
